For novel fans, there are a few exciting updates at the end of this post, but first…
This weekend — Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 — my husband, Mike Gandolfi, and I will be in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas at the annual Art Springs arts festival, part of a 10 day celebration of art called, Arts and the Park. Come see us at Hill Wheatley Plaza this weekend if you’re in town!
Mike will be selling his abstract paintings (yes, in addition to acting and writing, Mike is now a painter!)
I will be there, singing a few books and helping him to sell his art alongside other great Arkansas artists — which is a perfect weekend for this art-historical novelist, obsessed with the creative processes and struggles of visual artists. What better way to learn about the life of an artist than to, well, live the life of an artist? (It’s been a long time since I’ve personally sold my work at an art show, so it’ll be good to refresh my emotional memory)
Speaking of writing about artists — a few quick updates about the life of my novels. I hope to have more info on all of these fronts soon:
Book #2 is coming soon…
My agent is currently in negotiations for my second novel… Hope to have official word/announcement soon. For those who want to know, here’s all I’m saying about the subject… for now:
Yes, it’s still art historical fiction, because I hope to be writing art historical fiction until the day I die. This novel is still set during the Italian Renaissance — not because all of my books will be but because I HAD to write this one next. AND, if you read Oil and Marble, I believe you got a hint at the end as to where the next book is headed, so…
More on this front soon.
Oil and Marble the movie
The brilliant producers of the movie version of Oil and Marble — the team at Pioneer Pictures — is making great progress on the film… I’m not allowed to share details at this time, but trust me when I say, it’s all VERY exciting… 🙂 Can’t wait to share.
While Novel #2 is heading through the publishing process, I’m hard at work on Novel #3 — yes, still art historical fiction… for those of you who follow me on social media (Instagram @oilandmarble or Twitter @oilandmarble or Facebook @Stephanie Storey – Author) you may have noticed that Mike and I recently took a trip to France, so… I’m up to my ears in new research!
Event Next Weekend in Vegas!
If you happen to be in Las Vegas next weekend (May 2-4), I’ll be teaching writing classes at the Las Vegas Writers Conference, so come see me! I’m very excited about this event!
Oil and Marble continues to feel the love from book clubs all across the country — which I LOVE. I do my best to Skype/Facetime into book clubs when asked, so if you or your friends are hosting a book club, please reach out via my contact page! (Or just email me directly).
