With the news from Milan that one of Leonardo’s “lost” frescos has been uncovered (a grove of mulberry trees in the Sforza Castle. For the full story, go here), we are reminded that history is never dead.
Yes, Leonardo da Vinci lived 500 years ago, and to many people that means his story has already been told, but to me, he lives again not only whenever we “discover” a “new” Leonardo, but whenever someone talks about him, writes about him, or just stands in front of a piece of his art and feels something.
Art is never dead and never lost. Once it is created, it changes the artist, the viewer, and the world forever.
So, go, look at a piece of art, bring it back to life, and change yourself.
